This Rainbow LP – “Down To Earth” (1979) – is a special club edition on Polydor. The album marks an important phase in the band's history: with Graham Bonnet as lead singer and hits like “Since You Been Gone” and “All Night Long,” the band reached a wider audience without abandoning the classic hard rock sound of Ritchie Blackmore (formerly of Deep Purple). The album was produced by Roger Glover, also known as the bassist of Deep Purple.

Rainbow was founded in 1975 by Ritchie Blackmore after his departure from Deep Purple. The band quickly became one of the most important hard rock acts of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Known for their blend of powerful hard rock, melodic elements, and virtuoso guitar playing, Rainbow produced several legendary singers, including Ronnie James Dio, Graham Bonnet, and later Joe Lynn Turner. With "Down to Earth," the band took a more commercial direction for the first time, without losing their rock roots.
