Background information about the artist

Marianne Faithfull ( born 1946 ) rose to fame in the 1960s with folk and pop hits, but experienced personal and professional lows in the 1970s. She made a triumphant comeback with Broken English – the album is now considered a New Wave classic and an artistic rebirth. Her powerful voice and unflinching lyrics made the work a critical and popular success.
