Historical background
Thomas Leer ( born 1953 in Port Glasgow, Scotland ) is considered a pioneer of the electronic underground scene in Great Britain. His collaboration with Robert Rental resulted in the legendary album "The Bridge" in 1979, which is regarded as a milestone of experimental electronic music. In the 1980s, Leer moved towards a poppier, yet still distinctive sound – "No. 1" is a prime example of this period. Today, Thomas Leer is recognized as an influential artist working at the intersection of post-punk, synthpop, and avant-garde music.
