This rare Amiga pressing presents a selection of songs by the legendary British rock band The Who , whose sound defined the 1960s and 70s. With their mix of powerful guitars, energetic vocals, and rebellious attitude, The Who laid a foundation for later generations of rock and punk bands.
The release on the East German label Amiga is today representative of the special cultural history of the East – Western rock music in state-licensed form, often with a slightly modified track listing.
Historical background
The Who , founded in London in 1964, are among the most important rock bands of all time. With albums like Tommy and Who's Next, they made music history. Their explosive playing, Pete Townshend's guitar work, and Roger Daltrey's distinctive voice made them pioneers of hard rock and mod rock.
This Amiga pressing was produced in the early 1970s, when the East German label released selected Western productions – mostly in small runs. For collectors, these releases are now highly sought-after historical documents of the musical exchange between East and West.
