This vintage LP , "The Blues Band," was released in 1981 on the East German label AMIGA as a licensed release of the British debut album by the band of the same name. The band was founded in 1979 by experienced musicians from the British rock and blues scene, including Paul Jones and Tom McGuinness , both former members of Manfred Mann .
Musically, the album moves between classic Chicago blues, British rhythm & blues, and rock influences – honest, raw, and handcrafted. The AMIGA release offered music lovers in East Germany a rare glimpse into the British blues renaissance of that era.
Historical background:
The Blues Band was formed during a time when blues-rock was experiencing a renaissance in Great Britain. With their authentic playing style and their connection to the legendary Manfred Mann era, the group succeeded in combining traditional blues structures with a modern drive.
The AMIGA licensed pressing is a prime example of the cultural exchange between East and West and is now one of the most sought-after international licensed releases from the GDR.
