Historical background:
Stefan Diestelmann (1949–2007) is considered one of the most important figures in East German blues. As the leader of the Stefan Diestelmann Folk Blues Band, he created a body of work in the 1970s and 1980s that was influential both musically and lyrically. Hofmusik is considered a classic of GDR blues – recorded with an unmistakable atmosphere and a socially critical edge, and released on the long-established AMIGA label.
