Historical background
Scatman John (John Paul Larkin, 1942–1999) was an American musician who began as a jazz pianist and became world-famous in the 1990s with his unique combination of scat singing and Eurodance. His 1994 debut hit , "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)," reached number one in numerous countries. The album *Scatman's World* solidified this success and is considered a cult classic of the 1990s Eurodance era. Despite his short career, Scatman John remains an icon of club and pop music of that time.
