Historical background

Phil Collins, drummer and singer of Genesis , launched a highly successful solo career in the early 1980s. "In the Air Tonight " (1981) was his first solo single and became a worldwide hit, not least because of the famous drum fill that made pop history. The song remains one of Collins' biggest successes and has been re-released numerous times – including the '88 Remix for a new generation of listeners.
