Original German Ariola pressing of the self-titled album Newsic from 1979. Musically somewhere between singer-songwriter and late 70s pop-rock: melodic, warmly produced, and pleasantly direct. A fine piece of German label history and a subtle retro highlight for any record collection.
Historical background
Newsic is a duo from Düsseldorf, formed in the mid-1970s within the local folk/songwriter scene. The project name stands for "New Acoustic Music." Their self-titled debut album, "Newsic," was released in 1979 by Ariola; simultaneously, the duo also released singles from the album. Their stylistic signature is clear: acoustically grounded arrangements, two-part vocals, and unpretentious pop hooks.
