This AMIGA pressing of Nena 's self-titled debut album perfectly captures the sound and spirit of the early 80s. With songs like "Nur geträumt ," "Leuchtturm ," and of course the worldwide hit "99 Luftballons, " Nena became a symbol of the Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave). The AMIGA version offers an authentic, East German-released version of the album – a fascinating piece of pop history bridging East and West.
Historical background:
Originally released on CBS in 1983, the album Nena was a milestone in German pop music. It launched the international success of the band fronted by singer Gabriele "Nena" Kerner and sold millions of copies. The AMIGA edition is considered one of the best-known West German licensed releases in East Germany – and today represents the cultural exchange between the two German states during the 1980s.
