Marillion released their sixth studio album , Holidays in Eden , in 1991. The album marked a new musical direction for the British progressive rock band, as it focused more on catchy melodies and pop-rock elements. It includes songs like "Cover My Eyes (Pain and Heaven) ," "No One Can," and "Dry Land ," which are among the most popular tracks of the Steve Hogarth era. The CD is presented in a jewel case with the original booklet.
Historical background
Marillion was founded in 1979 and is considered one of the most influential neo-prog bands. They enjoyed great success in the 1980s with singer Fish before he left the band in 1988. With Steve Hogarth as the new frontman, a new era began, heralded by Seasons End (1989). Holidays in Eden represented a significant stylistic shift: instead of complex prog suites, melodic rock songs with a radio-friendly appeal dominated. Although the album polarized the fanbase, it is now considered an important part of the band's history and a collector's item.
