This vintage LP "True Blue" by Madonna was released in 1987 in East Germany on the cult label AMIGA – a licensed East German edition of the album originally released in 1986. Featuring hits like Papa Don't Preach , Open Your Heart , La Isla Bonita and Live To Tell, "True Blue" is one of the most iconic pop albums of the 80s.
The AMIGA edition is now considered a highly sought-after collector's item, as it documents the global pop icon cult in a socialist context – an impressive piece of music and cultural history.
Historical background:
In 1986/87, Madonna was at the peak of her early career. True Blue was her third studio album and, with its combination of dance-pop, Latin influences and emotional ballads, defined the sound of an entire era.
The East German pressing by AMIGA was officially released under license from Sire/Warner Bros. – a rare example of cultural exchange across the Iron Curtain. The cover art, featuring Madonna's iconic portrait, is particularly legendary today.
