A fascinating album between classical music and electronic experimentation : On Church Organ + Synthesizer + Rhythm, baroque organ works by Bach, Mozart, Handel and Beethoven merge with the futuristic sounds of analog synthesizers.
The Kajem project stages well-known works such as Toccata in D minor or Adagio (Moonlight Sonata) in a mix of sacred spatial sound and electronic rhythms – a mixture of church organ, drum machine and synth-pop pioneering spirit that seems unusually modern then as it does today.
Historical background
Kajem was the brainchild of musicians Rene Moser and Emile Elsen , who experimented with electronic organ arrangements in the early 1980s. Inspired by artists such as Jean-Michel Jarre and Walter Carlos , they sought to transform classical compositions into a new, rhythmic form.
The LP was released by Ariola / Deutsche Austrophon , a label that often enabled daring studio experiments at that time. Today, the album is considered a hidden gem between synthesizer and library music – a piece of German sonic avant-garde.
