This original double LP by DJ Shadow – Endtroducing….. from 1996 is considered a milestone in sample culture and one of the most influential instrumental hip-hop albums of the 90s. Produced entirely from samples, DJ Shadow created an atmospheric sonic universe blending trip-hop, downtempo, and experimental sound design. The iconic cover photo by B+ depicts two record collectors in a California record store – an homage to the art of digging and vinyl as a cult object.
Historical background:
DJ Shadow, whose real name is Joshua Davis, shaped the aesthetic of an entire generation of producers with Endtroducing… The album was the first work composed entirely from samples to be included in the Guinness Book of Records. Released on the iconic British label Mo' Wax , it quickly became a benchmark for experimental hip-hop and still regularly appears on "Best of the 90s" lists.
