Original German WEA pressing from 1988: "Chiefs Of Relief," the only studio album by the British band of the same name. Musically, it's a blend of New Wave, Alternative Rock, and danceable Post-Punk, driven by energetic rhythms, propulsive guitars, and crisp production. A true document of the late 80s, reflecting the transition from Post-Punk to club-oriented sounds.
Historical background
Chiefs of Relief were formed in England in the mid-1980s, emerging from the circles of Killing Joke and Bow Wow Wow . The band combined influences from rock, dance, and new wave, releasing their self-titled debut on WEA in 1988. Although the album didn't achieve major commercial success, it is now considered a cult collector's item of the British alternative scene. The record marks an attempt to combine guitar music with dancefloor elements – typical of the sound of that era.
